In the autumn of 2019, Musée de l'Homme organize a major exhibition dedicated to a food, from October 16, 2019 to June 1, 2020. The exhibition "Je mange donc je suis "invites you to discover the biological, cultural and ecological aspects of our diet. This event gives the greatest number of research carried out by the scientists of the National Museum of Natural History in fields as varied as the formation of taste, table manners, gastrodiplomatie, agricultural models, culinary heritage, consumption of meat, GMOs, the food of our ancestors ... In 3 rooms, the exhibition offers us historical, cultural and biological answers on food. The visit alternates scientific knowledge, social debates and "surprises", such as the reconstitution of the Élysée table, extracts from the wing or thigh or encounters with cows more real than life. The first room questions the formation of taste in our evolution, but also the formation of our plates in the time, then, it is the social facet of the food which is studied. Finally, challenges to eradicate the end in the world to greed and over-consumption of animals, the exhibition also wants to raise awareness about the future of food in the 21st century. In addition to this exhibition, dinners with the Eiffel Tower view will be proposed with different themes each time: Eating well, food in Prehistory, the first appointment will be scheduled for December 5, 2019. The museum is open from 10am to 6 pm, except Tuesdays, January 1st, May 1st and December 25th.
